Casco Viejo Panama offers many historic sites and restaurants with the usual dose of touristy-type stores (beautiful locally made items can be found in the outdoor stalls lining the ocean view walkway). You will also find an unexpected, quiet sanctuary when you visit Casa Thai.
Session: Combined Foot, Thai and Oil
The Casa Thai “packages” allow clients to combine different massages into one session. For my session, I chose the Lamduan and received a foot, Thai and oil massage in one session. This is a great option if you have time to relax.
Before starting the foot massage, my therapist provided me with a set of loose fitting clothes to wear. The therapist allowed us to soak our feet before providing the foot massage. Enjoyed being able to recline in a large chair and savor a cup of delicious tea during the foot massage. The gallery below shows different parts of the session.
The Thai and oil massage are provided in a different location than the foot massage (see photo in gallery). Same as when I received numerous massages in Thailand, the Casa Thai therapist followed a predetermined protocol and didn’t ask about physical limitations or perceived tension in my body. The session went as expected - a series of compressions followed by Swedish type strokes when oil is applied. Very relaxing session.

Facilities
All of the areas - the reception, the changing area, the foot massage location and the treatment rooms - were clean and reinforced the Thai-related theme of the spa. Although it has been about a year since I visited Casa Thai, the recent Google reviews indicate the facility is still being operated in a safe, clean and therapeutic manner.
TIPS FOR Planning a VISIT to Casa Thai
Casco Viejo, a UNESCO World Heritage site, features historic landmarks, noteworthy architecture and government buildings. Walking through the cobblestoned streets and viewing the layout of the area, you get a glimpse of how the fortified walls designed for defense have been removed to showcase elegant residences and offices.
1. Schedule your visit to Casa Thai to start after you have had a chance to do a walking tour of Casco Viejo. Use a guide book or a local guide to help increase your understanding of the previously walled city.
2. Plan to arrive by taxi or ride share service. Parking spaces in the Casco Viejo area can be difficult to find and the narrow streets become quickly congested by cars and people.
3. Consider enjoying a meal in Casco Viejo after your session. The location has a different vibe than found in the modern areas of downtown Panama City.
RESULTS: INFORMING SERVICES AT FIBRE
Casa Thai offers many traditional Thai massage services in a setting designed to evoke memories of Thailand. At fibre: A Homespun Spa, we continue to use some Thai massage techniques, as needed, during a Classic Massage session.
Casa Thai asks each guest to wear embroidered slippers provided by Casa Thai before entering the treatment area. A similar practice is used at fibre: A Homespun Spa. We use rubber slippers which are cleaned and sanitized after use.
